OnePlus slipped a "new" phone onto its China store on November 1 with no launch event: the Turbo 6Vs. It's January's Turbo 6V with a fresh coat of orange paint and a price that jumped by 1,600 yuan. If you want this phone, buy the original.
Spot the difference
The Turbo 6Vs carries model number PLY110, the same one as the Turbo 6V. The hardware matches, line for line:
- Chip: Snapdragon 7s Gen 4
- Memory: 12GB LPDDR4X RAM, 256GB UFS 3.1 storage (the only Turbo 6Vs config)
- Screen: 6.78-inch 2772×1272 AMOLED, 144Hz, 800 nits typical, 1,800 nits peak
- Battery: 9,000mAh, 80W wired, 27W reverse wired, bypass charging
- Toughness: IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K
- Cameras: 50MP main with OIS, 2MP mono, 16MP selfie
- Extras: stereo speakers, X-axis motor, IR blaster, NFC, ColorOS 16
- Size: 8.5mm, about 215g
What's new is a brushed Orange finish and a Nova White option. That's it.
The price math
The Turbo 6Vs is listed at 3,699 yuan (about US$555) for 12GB + 256GB. It sold out on day one.
When the Turbo 6V launched on January 8, the same 12GB + 256GB spec retailed at 2,099 yuan, with a launch price of 1,899. The 8GB + 256GB started at 1,699 on launch.
So the identical spec is now 1,600 yuan above its original retail price, roughly 76% more. Part of that is real: memory prices have climbed all year and most Android brands have raised prices or cut configs (we covered the memory squeeze on China's phone market). OPPO's own store has repriced the 6V upward too. But no memory cost explains a single-SKU repaint costing this much more than the phone it copies.
China's national subsidy knocks 15% off eligible phones, capped at 500 yuan, in regions where it applies. It helps both models equally, so it doesn't close the gap.
Who the Turbo 6V(s) is actually for
It's a stamina phone. A 9,000mAh cell with bypass charging means you can game while plugged in without cooking the battery, and the 27W reverse charging turns it into a power bank for your earbuds or a friend's dying phone. The full IP69K rating survives hot high-pressure jets, which is overkill for most people and great for delivery riders, outdoor workers and anyone who drops their phone in things.
What you give up: the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 is a mid-range chip, the 2MP mono camera is filler, and there's no telephoto.
What to buy instead
- Want this exact phone? Buy a Turbo 6V. Same PLY110 hardware, more memory options, and a lower price for the same spec.
- Gamer? Look at the Turbo 6. Same 9,000mAh battery and IP ratings, but Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and a 165Hz screen. Its 12GB + 256GB launched at 2,299 retail, still well under the 6Vs.
- Importing? Don't bother. There's no global Turbo 6Vs announced, it runs the China ROM of ColorOS, and paying 3,699 yuan plus shipping for a mid-range chip makes no sense.
Our verdict
The Turbo 6Vs is a colour, not a phone. The only buyer it makes sense for is someone who must have that brushed orange and doesn't care about 1,600 yuan. Everyone else should take the 6V, or spend a little and get the Turbo 6's faster chip.
